How to find the perfect product for your condition
CBD products that you apply to your skin are becoming increasingly popular, and it’s easy to see why. They’re a very efficient way to get CBD into your system, they’re safe, they provide fast results, and they’re very beneficial for a wide range of conditions. But since there are a lot of different topical products out there, it can be hard to find ones that will really work for you.
We know that the needs of someone with acne are different from those of someone with eczema, or psoriasis, or dry skin. We use our expertise to recommend products that are fit for specific conditions. This is why we’ve created articles on quite a few different skin conditions, delving deeper into what products work best for it, and why. We also want to give people different options in terms of texture, scents, ingredients, and more. After all, what you put on your skin also has a lot to do with personal taste!
Do CBD topicals work?
In short, yes, CBD topicals do work. In fact, they are one of the most bioavailable ways of taking CBD. When you apply CBD cream to your skin, the cannabidiol molecules that it contains can bind with endocannabinoid receptors found just under the skin. This means it doesn’t have to be processed by the digestive tract. And as a result, CBD cream can provide very fast and sometimes instant results.
CBD topicals can relieve pain, inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching. They can improve your skin’s elasticity, improve the appearance of scars, regulate your sebum production, and work as an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent.
We have no hesitation in recommending topical forms of CBD for skin conditions. However, it’s also all about finding the right product!
Finding the right type of product for you
Topical CBD products come in lots of different varieties.
The most common one is probably oil-based CBD cream, a product that uses natural oils and butter (like cocoa butter, coconut oil, or evening primrose oil) to dilute hemp extract. These products tend to be the most moisturizing. Since many of them tend to be quite thick, they can take longer to be absorbed into your skin. So we mainly recommend them to people with dry skin and to those who don’t need “instant” results.
Water-based CBD topicals absorb into the skin much faster. They tend to contain more synthetic ingredients (but you won’t find us recommending any with harmful or toxic ones!). One of the main benefits of these products is that they can give you faster relief from things like itching or redness. They’re also sure not to leave your skin oily, which can be a risk with heavier products.
Transdermal patches are still difficult to find, but they’re a very promising product. They deliver CBD through the skin over the course of 12 to 24 hours thanks to a gel patch. Though they’re not particularly adapted to most skin conditions, they have a lot to offer to people who suffer from chronic pain, inflammation, or anxiety.
Finally, there are a lot of “fun” CBD topicals out there, like bath bombs or massage oil. More often than not, these products don’t have the potency that’s required to really show strong effects. That’s why we don’t write reviews for them. But that’s not to say they can’t be a fun product to try and a great way to treat yourself!
