We talk a lot about great video games for stoners, the best strains to smoke while you play and so on. There are just so many types of games around and they all suit different moods and purposes. If you’re stressed out, overworked, or just need some decent down time then I think cute but well-made games are the best option. There are so many varieties all of which work the brain to different levels. Some you can just sit and play mindlessly while you watch cartoons. Some you follow a beautiful story and get lost in the gorgeous graphics. Some need you to use tactics and logic to play through. What they all have in common is that they will sooth your brain and they all go really well with weed. Having a smoke and playing a cute video game is my absolute favourite way to just separate from reality and get the endorphins flowing. So here are my personal favourite cute videogames and a few strains that would go well with playing them.
Spiritfarer
I’m going to start with my personal favourite, the beautiful, adorable, involved, and strangely sad game Spiritfarer. I have to say when my sister told me to play this game I thought it would just be a cutesy fun distraction. When my first adorable animal spirit swore I was pretty surprised, then the stories started. In this game you play as a small girl named Stella accompanied by her adorable fluffy cat Daffodil. The game begins with you being given the role of Spiritfarer by a huge faceless creature. It’s your job to take the spirits on to the next world. As you go on you realise you know the spirits you collect, you find out about their lives before they died, and I will tell you some of them will make you cry like a baby. You get so attached to the characters that taking them to the next life can be genuinely difficult. Alongside your primary quests, you need to keep your lovely big ship running, build all sorts of things like kitchens and foundries, make sure your spirits are happy and fed, you even get chickens, cows and sheep to look after. There are loads of great side quests, you collect items like ore and wood to build new things or upgrade your boat. Finally I will just say that it is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played. It has a huge map that you sail around, discovering new places and characters. Plus I love that there is a D&D spirit, that made me happy. This is definitely a game for adults, swearing, realistic and incredibly sad stories of death, complex character backgrounds and stunning graphics. I have waffled about this one but it is my favourite, I shall move on.
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
You read that right, and you can bet your bottom this is a great game to play stoned. The title is probably pretty clear but allow me to elaborate anyway. This adorable little game is styled after the original GameBoy Pokemon. You trot around a flat little plane as a turnip boy, and what do you do? You commit tax evasion. Your turnip boy character is described as a menace to society who owes a huge debt to Mayor Onion. After losing your home you have to start trying to pay back what you owe, but is it that simple? No of course it isn’t you silly boots. You must solve puzzles and fight a variety of foes, including a very large piggy, in order to discover what sinister forces are spoiling this garden village. While you pay off your debt and unravel the sinister secrets of the government you also get to commit a whole bunch of crimes. One of my favourites is destroying documents to get rid of your paper trail. If you want to take down a corrupt veggie government, get lots of adorable little hats, mess around with garden tools and generally be an absolute turnip scamp then I guarantee this is the game for you. This is definitely more of a fun, upbeat game that doesn’t require as much aggressive emotional involvement so it’s absolutely ideal for a stoned Sunday afternoon. The perfect combination of cute, crime and dismantling the government.
Hades
Now here is a fun one for all you dungeon lovers out there. Which I mean in the dragon sense not the latex sense. This stunningly designed game is all about fighting your way out of hell by battling creatures and dungeon crawling. Before I gave it a go my sister told me, my sister is basically the reason I know all of these games, that you have to expect to die. Initially, I found this frustrating but soon it took away all the usual stress and irritation that comes with dying in games. Every time you work your way through a dungeon you get stronger and so when you finally defeat everything and move on it feels amazing. You play as the Prince of the Underworld, pretty cool right? Each attempt at escape is unique so even though you die a lot it never gets boring. You get to use awesome powers and mythical weapons while enjoying the genuinely gorgeous graphics. Much like in the popular game God of War, well in some of them I can never remember which, the Olympians are on your side. The Gods appear throughout the game in order to assist you in your escape from Hades. One thing I really love about this game is the amount of variety in the builds. It’s not a quickly put together game and there are so many different ways your character can turn out. This means it’s fun to play again and again, putting together the puzzle of a storyline and creating a unique character as you go.
Right, I have run out of space but I have not run out of games so look out for part 2 of Cutest Games To Play High.
