“My cannabis journey began during my formative years when a friend introduced me to the vibrant neighbourhoods of Kensington Market in Toronto. The eclectic coffee shops and glass stores, reminiscent of scenes I had previously only encountered in the pages of High Times magazine, left an indelible impression on me, igniting my fascination with the plant.

In the late ’90s and mid-2000s, I found myself cultivating cannabis on a farm in Ontario, Canada, where my connection with the plant deepened. Armed with a disposable camera, I captured moments in the cannabis world, hoping that the local pharmacy wouldn’t raise any alarms when developing those photos.

Life took an unexpected turn, and I embarked on a complete transformation by enlisting in the military, leaving everything and everyone behind. My service stationed me in Japan for approximately five years, affording me the opportunity to explore Asia extensively. During these travels, I vividly remember encountering cannabis growing freely in remote regions of India and Sri Lanka, further nurturing my appreciation for the plant’s global presence.

After an 11-year military career, I faced medical retirement, accompanied by physical and mental health challenges. It was during this period that my relationship with cannabis underwent a renaissance. In the final three years of my military service, I relied on a cane for mobility. However, a few weeks after incorporating cannabis into my daily routine, particularly in my morning tea, I observed a remarkable improvement in pain management. This shift allowed me to overcome the mental and physical barriers I had faced, ultimately enabling me to walk without assistance once more.

My journey then led me to a position at Grow West Cannabis Company, a local cannabis company. I initially began in the trim department but soon progressed into cultivation. Word spread about my talent behind the camera, leading to the creation of a dedicated role for me as a full-time photographer. Today, I proudly serve as the Media and Event Coordinator for the company, and I am filled with excitement and optimism for the promising future ahead.”
