And i remember thinking i have to find out before the day is over who that guitar player is that doesn’t happen to me very often that i get that way about listening to music i mean about three or four times in my life i felt that way in a car listening to the

Radio where i’ve stopped the car pulled over and listened and thought i’ve got to find out before the end of the day not do you know sooner or later but i have to know now who that is and i remember um being fascinated by the fact that he never ever seemed to be

Lost in any way i mean it wasn’t ever that he took a um a breather or to or pause to think where he was going to go next it just flowed out of him always seemed to flow out of him and actually even that doesn’t come just with virtuosity or practice or

Any of those it’s not a question of doing it over and over again or anything like that it’s just that he seemed to be an open channel and he just flowed through him he never it never ever seemed to kind of dry up you know because i play i’m when i play

I sometimes stop every now and then i just stop and think what am i going to do now i don’t want to do that i don’t want to repeat myself so i’ll get caught i’ll get caught up somehow you know free you freeze you kind of freeze and

Look most players do i never saw him do that so he was a channel in some way Um Hmm I ain’t gonna give up on love love ain’t gonna give up on me give up on me I just ain’t gonna give up on love every beat of my heart with joy Every beat of my heart found with Memories it only brought me to my knees All about the midnight crime About the price that must be paid If we don’t give up on love Two uh [Applause] Down Okay I ain’t gonna give up on love love ain’t gonna give up on me ain’t gonna give up on love love on me Every time i try [Applause] Hmm you

  1. Clapton is so far below Stevie that he shouldn’t even be considered the same type of musician.

  18. I love Eric Clapton, no doubt one of the best. That being said, I’ve watched enough SRV to know that no one can touch him! Eric plays great but it seems so routine, no energy, no fire. SRV was nothing BUT fire, he poured his whole mind, body and soul into his playing and let’s not forget his gritty, raw vocals! The first time I heard him sing I was astonished by his voice. Clapton even said that SRV’s playing could make someone who had never touched a guitar want to pick one up but for those who had been playing for years it just made them want to hang it up!! There are many great guitarists but no one who can duplicate SRV’s passion! Number one always in my book ❤ See you on the other side I hope.

  26. So many phenomenal blues players through out the years. I love Clapton and his version of this song. To compare him with SRV is just silly. Clapton is one of the greatest guitarists of all time along with Stevie. What an amazing tribute. Clapton is so smooth and SRV was so vicious. Two distinctly different styles but both were phenomenal.

  29. Ahhh MAN you talk about a FLIP of FATE? Clapton got on the wrong helicopter. That's why SRV died with Clapton's road manager and manager. It was just that simple.

  31. Fantastic tribute. I haven’t heard this version of Clapton since maybe the Cream days….. He channeled the old Slowhand to give proper tribute to his friend, Stevie Ray. 🔥 🤙🏼
SRV (and EVH) would smile to this.

  39. A comparison of Stevie and Clapton is like trying to compare two types of apples. They're both apples with a difference in looks, tastes, and tartness; either way, you have greatness, just in a slightly different flavor.

  49. I was two days away from seeing SRV at Eric's concert at Sandstone Amphitheater outside of Kansas City when he died. As much as I wanted to see Eric in person, I was even more excited to see Stevie. That turned out to be the best concert I've ever been to. He did a very beautiful tribute at that concert as well.
