The Department of Justice said in a new court brief that marijuana companies’ lawsuit challenging federal prohibition could “frustrate” cannabis rescheduling—suggesting that if they win, the government would “lack constitutional authority to regulate marijuana as a Schedule III drug for the same reasons that it could not regulate marijuana as a Schedule I drug.”

The Hawaii Office of Medical Cannabis Control and Regulation posted a request for proposals to analyze the “demand for cannabis, both for medical cannabis and adult-use,” as lawmakers continue to consider recreational marijuana legalization.
