Cultivation Is Just the Beginning At Treadwell Farms, we wear many hats: grower, manufacturer, educator and advocate. Our family has been rooted in Florida agriculture for over a century. Though we’ve shifted our focus to cannabis, our values remain the same. What we grow is important—but how we grow it, test it and share it matters just as much.
Hemp-derived products sit at the intersection of wellness and functionality. If we want to preserve access and legitimacy for health-conscious consumers, compliance is a non-negotiable.
Testing Isn’t Optional—It’s an Ethical Obligation
Too many brands stop at the cannabinoid count. But COAs that only highlight CBD or THC potency aren’t enough. Full-panel testing for pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, microbials and mycotoxins is vital. These aren’t technicalities—they’re safety standards that protect patients and reduce harm.
At Treadwell Farms, we view testing as a commitment to our customers. It’s how we ensure every product meets our rigorous standards. Although the regulatory landscape is rapidly evolving, we welcome these changes because compliance filters out opportunists and rewards operators with integrity.
Operation Safe Summer: A Case Study in Accountability
In June, Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services launched Operation Safe Summer, a statewide initiative enforcing new child-protection rules for hemp packaging. In the first week alone, nearly 11,000 products were pulled from shelves—many featuring cartoon graphics, candy-style branding or other violations that appealed to minors.
These weren’t vague infractions. They were blatant—and damaging to public trust across the board.
We’ve followed Florida’s packaging rules from the beginning: child-resistant, food-safe materials with compliant labeling. There’s no need to sacrifice safety for shelf appeal. Responsible self-regulation builds credibility and prevents sweeping government restrictions.

Compliance Lives in the Details
Lab testing and packaging are just part of the equation. Documentation is equally important. From batch records and harvest approvals to licensing and tracking systems, the paper trail proves operational integrity. When regulators or retailers ask questions, clear records aren’t just helpful—they’re strategic.
Bringing a Farmer’s Voice to the Policy Table
We’ve learned the best policies come from listening to people in the field. That’s why we engage each legislative session—to share real-world context. Regulation shouldn’t be a punishment. It should provide a framework where safety and innovation coexist.
Our advocacy focuses on creating space for small and mid-sized hemp farmers to succeed without sacrificing accountability. The future of this industry shouldn’t belong to the richest or loudest—it should belong to those who honor the plant with the reverence and care it deserves.
The Long Game Is Worth Playing
Although it’s frustrating to compete with brands that cut corners while trying to keep up with ever-changing state laws, the alternative—losing trust or compromising public health—isn’t an option.
We know what it costs to do things right. But we also understand the consequences of doing it wrong. At Treadwell Farms, we believe the path forward is paved with transparency, consistency and patient care.
To every brand, grower and policymaker raising the bar: keep going. What you’re doing matters.
