that you’re here joining us and if you’re returning I’m glad you’re back um as we’ve talked about in the past uh cannabis is very much a catalyst for living your best life whether that means increased Mobility uh better sleep less stress less pain it’s not the solution but it is an important part of a comprehensive Wellness routine so because of that and because everyone has different goals I thought this was really important to um to go through step by step and before we dive in I would just like to say um please subscribe if you find this content interesting uh your free subscription allows me to keep creating tools that help people um and I’m thankful you’re here so first of all uh for anyone who subscribes to senior Savvy cannabis for free in your welcome email you’ll get this uh free pdf of this cannabis tracking Journal that I made because um what gets measured gets managed and I want to say that once more what gets measured gets managed and this applies to any part of your life but if you’re looking to make an improvement in some element of your health Wellness whatever um it’s worth tracking where you start and where you end up and it really actually feels quite nice to see some progress along the way um I also wanted to create this tracking Journal because I was in the dispensary the other day and I overheard this woman having this like very not productive conversation with her butt tender where she said my daughter got me a vape I liked it a lot and he said cool like which brand we have a lot of them and she said I don’t remember and then they went back and forth being like well I think it was colorful and like they’re all colorful and it really like I I was just thinking wow like this lady should have just like you know I take a picture or written down what she liked about it so she could just pick it up the next time um and last point is that um there are like cannabis tracking journals that you can download on Etsy for like a couple bucks but I just didn’t like them I didn’t think they kept track of the right metrics and I didn’t and I wanted to make it better so um once again you can get your free cannabis tracking Journal print out uh when you sign up for senior Savvy I’m going to put a link and it comes in your welcome email um so before we go into filling this out I want to show you how to read a cannabis label because this is really important and it’s a little bit tricky because each state does this differently I recently had the pleasure of visiting Las Vegas and realized that they do this very very well they do this better than anyone else I’ve seen so I’m going to use their products as an example so when you pick up cannabis in Las Vegas basically you get on the label get a bunch of information okay I don’t know if you can see that you probably can’t see it that well okay so I picked up some sativa flow okay sativas are typically energizing they are typically some are appetite suppressing uh they’re very clearheaded they’re good daytime straints um I should have looked a little bit more carefully at the tpin before I made my choice because the tpes and in Las Vegas they list the the one that come is is most abundant and that’s terpinolene and terpinolene is like relaxing and mercen is the next one mercine and that’s sedative and um and that was interesting because I would have preferred maybe a strain that had lemoning as the first thing uh because I know that’s like energizing and clear-headed or even hum cumulene which is appetite suppressing that we covered at length on our episode on cannabis and weight loss um but what this is called is taking a TP first approach and it’s basically saying okay cannabis exists on spectrum and some cannabis is going to make me sleepy and some cannabis is going to give me energy some cannabis is gonna increase my appetite and give me the munchies and some cannabis is going to decrease my appetite suppress my appetite some cannabis will make my anxiety more manageable maybe it’ll help me refrain step back have some distance other strains might make my anxiety worse you really have to understand and appreciate for that matter the complexities of this plant and I always dreamed about there being like an app where I could be like I want this much of this tpine and I don’t want any of this tpine because I don’t want to feel like that but I want to get these benefits and I’m going to slide it across Okay so we’re not quite there yet but but as the information is listed and as you and I encourage you to do your own research because it’s fun and we’re going to put out a guide that’s basically like a um tpine canono focus on finding the right product for you because some people might want to treat their Pain by falling asleep and sleeping soundly while other people might want to treat their Pain by being energized so they can go to work so it really is something that you have to dive into on your own um I’m going to counter this sativa flower it was really good obviously like sponge all um I’m going to counter this sativa flow example with the sativa flow joint that I got at the um dazed Lounge which I also made a video about it’s a really cool cannabis Lounge it was really fun my bill was only $23 I was amazed so I told bu tender there I said ‘I want something energizing I want it to suppress my appetite and I want to be really clear-headed and he suggested this daily grape and it w it did in fact meet all of that criteria and I’m going to tell you why it met that criteria first of all chines lemoning first one clearheaded okay pining clearheaded um these are the tpin that I personally gravitate towards because they make me feel feel energized and they help you feel my best um also we talk about THC and CBD there are a handful of minor canono that do some really cool things we’re going to talk about that more later episode but what you might realize is that a lot of weed doesn’t contain any CBD in fact neither on this sativa joint nor this sativa flower was there any CBD um and I think you really do if if you’re looking for that balance because THC is sort of like the gas pedal and CBD is the break if you’re looking for that balance there are strains and there are Brands and there are shops that sell it but you really sort of have to look look for it because it’s not it’s not the most common um and I’ll also just contrast all of that to like a a a California product called hit it so hit it in California they do not list the tpes nor do they list the canabo so you have to scan this QR code and then navigate through like their Google docs to figure out what canids and tpes are there from their lab testing so if you would like to know of what in your products and you’re a little bit overwhelmed as to how to figure that out tell me in the comments and I will find out for you um because I think that stuff is really cool um great so that’s how you read a cannabis label um and so for the tracker let’s just go through this so of course you can use cannabis recreationally and many of us do I think it’s really difficult to separate Recreation from medical when it’s the same plant that’s working on the same mechanisms helping the same ailments so the way that I kind of organize this is that are you using cannabis for pain are you using cannabis for sleep are you using cannabis for like nausea uh stomach issues are you using cannabis for anxiety or using cannabis to um because of like a a poor mood because you want to increase your mood um there are other reasons to use it there’s weight loss there’s Focus um but I think this really kind of covers the majority of why um at least seniors are using cannabis so you’ll just check off which box you’re using and then the next information is to collect the product name THC content CBD content and TPS for the reasons we just um mentioned and if there is no CBD content um I would suggest listing the minor cannabinoids um which for example on this flower there’s no CBD but there is CBG CBG has some benefits we’ll talk about that um what is the what’s the minor canono on this one CBG okay so you know what we’re going to look into CBG because it seems to coming up in some of my favorite strings um then we’re going to break it down by how the high feels actually just kidding let’s come over here and talk about the method of consumption so you can smoke your weed you can Vape your weed before I talk about all the other ways let me just say one thing about that real fast smoking is great I like smoking there’s kind of a ritual to it but the fact of the matter is that when you are burning something and causing combustion you are not only losing the tpin that provide the benefit but you’re also um creating kind of like the carcinogenic byproducts that come from smoking and inhaling um like plant matter so I’m going to do some research on the best Vapes because we’ve been using Vapes for years and like I feel like the technology hasn’t really they’ve gotten cuter and sleeker and more modern but like for some reason like I always go back to a joint so let’s look into bathing um besides the inhalation methods we have Edibles gummies capsules like the soft gels or pills they have hard pills too uh sublinguals are they kind of sometimes look like Lis green sheets that go under your tongue uh they come on very quickly um cannabis infused beverages stand by for the Washington Post story about this it’s a big new trend um creams lotion and bones we can link to episodes that we did where you make your own because everyone should know how to make cannabis lotion for their pain uh transdermal patches these were popular like a decade ago and they really didn’t catch on because they’re expensive and they’re single use uh but they’re their patches you put on wherever it hurts and and the weed sinks in and it’s supposed to be like a longl lasting method um and dabbing and that’s using the cannabis concentrate or the oil or the wax uh which is super super super potent and it’s what a lot of people enjoy so you’re going to circle check mark whichever method you’re consuming okay then going to use your product and then you’re going to Circle how you’re feeling oh you know what we should actually do I’m going to switch this around so I have a symptom severity before graph so obviously pain is subjective but you want to know how much the product is helping that was moving you in the right direction so um you should um circle like where you’re P if you’re using it for sleep and you’re not able to sleep that seems like a severe problem um if your mood is if you’re depressed uh and it’s severe on the higher end of that um you know what I will update this to move it around because the I like the order of this a little bit more so you’re going to rate how you’re feeling before it’s probably going to be pretty crappy right okay then you’re going to use your cannabis and then I would say wait 10 15 minutes and then you’ll notice are you feeling energetic are you feeling uplifted are you feeling relaxed and calm are you happy and euphoric are you sleepy is it sedative do you feel creative and focused are you hungry so whichever ones you feel obviously it’s probably going to be more than one can just circle it um and then I tell my clients that I work with to wait at least 30 minutes unless they have an edible then wait an hour and then come back and rate your symptom severity um and once again cannabis isn’t the complete solution for all pain all sleep issues whatever but if it moves you from a nine to a six I that’s something right um there’s also a spot for negatives not every cannabis strain or product is going to be the right fit for you some of them hopefully won’t make you anxious but they might if it does it’ll pass um it might upset your stomach um it might make you hungry when you don’t want to be hungry or it make might make you not hungry when you do want to be hungry so there’s just a space for writing in those negatives and this is obviously completely subjective um and then I have um a section just for notes so if you notice anything like I inhaled something at this time and then by 45 minutes later I was laughing whatever notes you think but I like the idea of this because it’s very difficult for someone to answer how they used to feel or how they’re going to feel in the future how they’re even feeling right now um so I think taking it out of the head and putting it on paper even though it’s not perfect at least gives us something to start with um so if you are new to using cannabis or you have been using it for decades um I think the journal is actually really really fun because it’s you you kind of develop this curiosity about the plant and you develop this kind of like curiosity about like which strains make you feel which way so you can start to look for those and maybe you even start to visit New dispensaries because you realize these new dispensaries have the strains that you want um and then you can meet new people and build a whole new community um so I think there are a lot of cool reasons to um be curious about cannabis and if you would like some extra help uh I offer a free 15minute consult so I’ll put a link to that as well and um if you tell me what ails you we will reverse engineer it to find the right product with the right tpin and the right canono profile that will hopefully work for you um so I appreciate you joining me and I’m thrilled that I can offer this free uh PDF to everyone who subscribes to senior Savvy cannabis and um please subscribe to the YouTube so I can continue doing this thank you bye
