  3. Knocking on Heaven's Door was the last song ever played at the historic JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Six days later, it was condemned. It was demolished in September 1992.

  4. I was there and 13 other shows in the mid to late 80's. I love the band. I was not an "InThe Dark", "Touch of Grey" follower. I am more of a "Passenger", "Cassidy" kind of guy. I was in before the fall of the peaceful scenes in the parking lots. I was with Jerry at RFK in the sweltering heat. I prayed for his health and cried the day I hear of his passing. I will never stop listening to the music even though our political beliefs may differ.

That being said, I don't know if this is the bands statement that I find this under the video.
"Grateful Dead stand in solidarity with the black community.⁣ We are proud to support the ACLU in their effort to demand racial justice and defend the right to protest."

What I want to know is, where is the black community NOT allowed to protest? All of my black and brown friends say this is BS, and can't understand the outrage by the BLM activist. I stand in solidarity with them as we work side by side each day without hate or animosity. It seems that this is just a small fringe trying to get the whole as a country in an uproar.

  9. Was this at JFK stadium in Philly? If so, it was condemned not long after. I loved that place. Army Navy game and huge concerts like the Dead, Lynyrd Synyrd, Fleetwood Mac and more…

  21. The YouTube algorithm will insist on me being a Grateful Dead fan and each time I give them another chance to convince me of their greatness and importance to modern American music and culture…but each time I'm left bemused. Can someone explain their appeal to me? I find them to be like a Dire Straits minus the tunes. Maybe it's an American thing?….

  24. All this using the music and legacy of The Dead being in political activism is a bit nauseating. I wonder whose behind that? If you want to be philanthropic and create a charity, I support that. Throwing your weight blindly behind every social cause that comes down the pike is going to give this org a black eye. The term virtue signalling comes to mind, and I really do wonder how much the actual band is involved in these decisions?

  25. Seen the Dead 6-7 times spaning through these years, marveled how they were able to change up, not just the arrangement but the songs. As "hippy" as you thought they were, they were pro's

  28. Hard to watch alot of these shows. Best times of my life as a young man. Did 127 dead shows over 7 years. Definitely part of the family. Things have changed so much. Miss all of you and all of it. If you were never a deadhead, you wouldn't understand

  32. I have been a musician almost all my life and I just recently turned 70. I don't know why I paid no attention to these guys in the past but I'm making up for lost time. I listen to them daily both at work and at home and in the car. I just can't get enough. I love to improvise and this is the kind of band I wish I could have been in for all these years. I know it's not too late as long as I'm on this side of the soil and I'm now going to look to put together a GD tribute band. Wish me luck.

  44. I hate to make a negative comment, but I’ll never get why Jerry switched from Tiger to Rosebud in 1990… Christ, the tone on Tiger is sooo beautiful. Listen to the Loser & Let It Grow closely, really hone in on that tone… I just don’t get it. Still love all the music, it is life. Peace!
