Quest Climate’s Bold Leap into Sustainable Dehumidification

Since the 1970s, Quest Climate has been at the forefront of dehumidification technology, crafting American-made equipment from its base in Madison, Wisconsin. Initially focusing on the agricultural sector, Quest has built a reputation for delivering high-capacity, energy-efficient dehumidifiers tailored to the unique challenges of indoor cultivation.

Sales Director Coleman Retzlaff described the company as “kind of that industry OG” when it comes to large-capacity, commercial refrigerant dehumidification. That reputation is only set to grow as Quest prepares for a major product expansion in 2025.

Revolutionizing with M-CoRR Technology

Quest is set to redefine industry standards with the introduction of its patented Multi-Coil Refrigeration Recovery (M-CoRR) technology. This innovative system employs a trio of refrigerant-filled coils—pre-evaporator, evaporator, and recovery coil—to enhance energy efficiency and performance.

“We pull more water per kilowatt-hour than anybody else in the industry,” Retzlaff explained.

By maximizing water removal while minimizing power consumption, M-CoRR allows Quest dehumidifiers to extract up to 30% more moisture per kilowatt-hour than competitors. That translates to lower electricity bills and a reduced carbon footprint—key concerns for energy-conscious growers.

Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

Efficiency isn’t the only priority. Quest has transitioned its entire product line to the eco-friendly R-454B refrigerant, aligning with the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act of 2020. With a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 470, R-454B significantly reduces environmental impact compared to the previously used R-410A, which has a GWP of 2,090.

“Being green and using less electricity has always been a guiding principle of what we do,” said Retzlaff.

Enhanced Features for User Convenience

Beyond efficiency and sustainability, Quest’s 2025 dehumidifier lineup boasts several user-centric enhancements:

  • Digital controls: All models now feature intuitive interfaces with error codes, filter change alerts, and self-diagnostics for simplified maintenance. “It makes it easy for the end user to visually identify whether or not it’s time to change a filter or if there’s a problem,” Retzlaff noted.
  • Flexible installation: The addition of top-mounted hanging points means growers can suspend units from the ceiling without extra brackets, optimizing space.
  • Superior air filtration: Quest has incorporated MERV-13 filters into all units—a step just below HEPA-level filtration. “A lot of manufacturers can’t use that level of air filtration because of the static pressure,” said Retzlaff.

Expanding Accessibility

To broaden its reach, Quest has partnered with Hydrofarm, a leading distributor in the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) market. This ensures that Quest’s product line is widely available to commercial operators and home growers alike.

“We’re here to serve everybody, from the home grower to large MSOs,” Retzlaff said, emphasizing the brand’s scalability. “We really look to connect with home growers, craft growers, and large commercial operations. We’ve got a solution.”

Looking Ahead

As 2025 unfolds, Quest Climate is poised to lead the dehumidification industry into a new era of efficiency and sustainability. With cutting-edge technology, core values that include environmental responsibility, and a focus on user-friendly design, Quest is ensuring that growers can maximize yield while minimizing energy consumption.
